Northpower team wins national linesmen competition
A Northpower team has taken 1st place at the National Linesmen Competitions held in Hamilton over 3 days last week. 10 teams from around New Zealand competed for the trophy.
2003 Annual Report Announcement
Northpower is pleased to announce a net profit for the financial year ending 31st March 2003 of $9.4m. The Board has also declared a final dividend of $3.3m to be paid to the Northpower Electric Power Trust.
$1.9M project to upgrade older ripple control injection system
Northpower has begun a $1.9M project to upgrade its older ripple control injection system. Northpower has used “ripple control systems” for the last 50 years to switch controllable load, such as water heaters, from peak load times to non peak load times.
New Mangawhai Substation Commissioned
On 15 November 2002 the Mangawhai 33,000 volt Substation tripped out due to a fault in the 33/11 kV transformer. This fault ignited the transformer oil and the subsequent fire destroyed the whole substation.
$6M Line Charge Holiday
Northpower is giving a $6 million dollar “Northpower line charge holiday” to all customers connected to it lines as at midnight 11th February 2003.
