Whangarei residents will benefit from Northpower fibre’s open access fibre-optic network, allowing broadband providers to connect, introducing true competition into the telecommunications market in Whangarei.

Currently, Northpower has TelstraClear and local providers Xf Net and Ubergroup connected to its network offering ultra-fast broadband services to business and residential customers. Northpower is in discussions with other telecommunication retailers to provide ultra-fast broadband services over its fibre-optic network.

	Xf Net currently offers ultra-fast broadband services to both Whangarei businesses and soon Kensington residents, with the Kensington fibre expansion project commencing in March 2010.
	TelstraClear currently offers ultra-fast broadband services to Whangarei businesses only.
	Using superior wireless technology Ubergroup is connecting homes, farms and businesses throughout Northland.
